About Us

We’d normally tell you this during the interview, but again, we’re all about saving your time, and our time. We are a small remodeling company located in Bethany Beach Delaware. We have been successfully completing custom remodels for affluent clients for ten years and have grown consistently through the last recession.  Our last season had us completing fourteen condos in seven months with sales of 1.3 million.  The owner of Beach House Miracles personally has over thirty-three years experience in remodeling. Our business is all about creating an easy pleasurable experience for our clients. The quality of our product is second to none and most of our clients become longtime friends.  None of this is by chance or accident.  Every interaction is planned and scripted and that is why we have plenty of work even in a recession.

About You

This is where you should be real honest with yourself, do some reflection, or ask a trusted friend or family member if you are a right fit for this job. Probably the first thing about you is that you’re not interested in “only getting a paycheck”, but in developing your skills and your career, and making a positive contribution to a business establishment and the community it serves. You understand the challenges of operating a small business and welcome them as valuable learning and growth opportunities. You understand what it means to be a hard worker. Also, all applicants will undergo mandatory background checks and drug testing. If you are unwilling to sign the authorization for these and perform the drug test, please do not apply to work here. It’s crazy enough here, and we don’t need any crazies here with shady backgrounds and questionable habits.

So, are you still here, and reading? Great! We’ve got a lot more to say…

Your Skills

You are proficient in all phases of interior remodeling. Areas such as demolition, framing both wood and steel, drywall, flooring, custom cabinetry, doors trim and hardware are everyday tasks, Although you will rarely be asked to perform them you understand plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, tile and can communicate with and work together with other trades.  You understand that results matter and consider the need for all the trades to work together on solutions and if the client wants to change anything we happily work to achieve their goal.  You understand that documentation is critically important and you are proficient with internet technologies to do so.

Your Personality

It matters, A lot. Whether you are introverted or extroverted, we like for you to exude energy and enthusiasm. You are extremely detail-oriented. You enjoy talking to and helping people. You are articulate. You have a good sense of humor, a cooperative attitude. You show kindness, patience, and respect to all human beings. You are ethical and honest, even when no one is watching. You are punctual. You are able to take constructive criticism and correction without getting defensive or feeling “hurt” and discouraged. You look for solutions, not excuses. You are an avid learner, and extremely resourceful in finding solutions. You are a problem solver, not just a problem reporter. Oh, and did we mention you should be detail-oriented? Of course we did, it’s just that important that we said it twice.

Your Work Ethic

Since we’ll obviously be paying you to work, this section is extremely important. You enjoy working and are grateful for opportunities to use your God-given talents and skills to make a positive influence and to earn a living. You don’t view your job as an interruption to your life but as a natural part of your life. You understand that you are not getting paid just for being at work, but on how you spend your time at work (i.e. the value you bring to the business). You understand that the reason the business exists is to make a profit, and ALL who work there (employees and owners) must make that their foremost responsibility. Otherwise, the business will not be able to pay or keep employees. You are scrupulous about using the time you are getting paid, for the purposes of the business, and not for the purposes of your personal life (checking emails, texting, surfing the internet, etc). Finally, you understand the risks a small business owner faces every day that the business is open, and are cooperative with the decisions that he makes, whether they suit you or not.

We don’t mean to sound harsh, we just don’t like any surprises as I’m sure you don’t when it comes to starting a new job. We truly bust our tails in this business, that’s why we need help. We need someone who will be able to keep up with us. We don’t have the time nor do we enjoy having to micro-manage you. We will clearly set out our expectations, and remind you if you forget and if you fail to meet them. We want you to be part of our team, not just a worker here. We want to give you autonomy, and we want to let you be free to do the work that you are getting paid to do, and that you ENJOY doing.

So what are your responsibilities?

Your responsibilities will be very diverse, some are creative, some are mundane, but all are necessary to keep the business operating profitably. You should be adaptable, as you will be wearing any hat that is required to get the job done or get the problem solved. You must be comfortable managing multiple projects that have many moving parts. You must be able to work under deadlines and meet them. We don’t expect you to know how to do everything that is required (heck, we even don’t know sometimes), however, we do expect you to be observant, resourceful, and a fast learner. If you need to know exactly what your duties are every day, this is not the place for you.

Overall Responsibility:

  • To become proficient in all aspects of business operations in the field to give us time to focus on marketing and growing business.
  • To use your presence, your skills, and your talents to provide value to the business that will increase the profits of the business.
  • To assist everyone involved in the project in understanding and completing the project on time

Why would you want to work here?

If you’ve made it this far, then we congratulate you. You’re either close to being the “perfect” fit, or you’re just plain curious. We’re not trying to scare you, we just want to be very clear with our expectations so neither of us is disappointed. If you did a reference check on us, you’ll discover that although we’re direct, we are extremely friendly, kind, and caring people, we will treat you like family, because, remember, this is a family-owned business. Although we work hard, we like to have fun, we like to relax, we are very understanding, we treat you with respect, and we care about your experience with us. We believe you will excel when you love what you do, where you work, and the people you work with. We believe we can offer that opportunity to the right person.   Just for giggles, in your cover letter, tell us in just a couple of sentences what you think about this unusually long job posting
